Question
Hello Mr. Shah!
...Also do you have any piece of advice for remembering new words? I will have to master a long list of words typical of SAT.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Have a great day!
Sincerely,
Student XYZ
Answer
Dear Student XYZ,
I've attached a list of additional words/definitions, so hopefully this helps some! You could also browse dictionary.com (admittedly the words may not be all on the SAT but only a dozen or so of the words you study will probably show up) and do a Google search for 'SAT words' to find thousands of additional words. I suggest using this list and using different colors in your word processor to distinguish mastered words from ones that still need work.
For remembering new words, I have a couple suggestions. First off, try making mnemonic devices as you learn new words. Read more about this learning tool here: http://library.thinkquest.org/C0110291/tricks/mnemonics/index.php
Additionally, learn common suffixes and prefixes that are used in many Engish words; this will help in figuring out meanings for words you haven't got memorized yet. Here's a link to get you started http://vhs.vusd.k12.ca.us/resource/sat/roots_prefixes_suffixes.html
Other than that, when you learn a word, make up a couple sentences using that word to try and cement the meaning.
Do these suggestions and links help? A course might be helpful to help you work through the test more thoroughly, so that sounds like a good idea if you find a good program there.
Best,
Jason
