I'm yet to meet a college consultant that really "Wows" me. Many of them have Ivy League degrees, past experience on admission committees and a lot of other credentials that look good on paper. I've read about families who have spent $40,000 on college consulting! It's pretty crazy to be honest. Some people spend less than that on all four years of college, in total.
Anyway, for the time being, I just recommend going off of referrals from people you know if you really need a college consultant. But don't let the consultant sell you on their services without first getting a stellar and genuine referral from either a friend or a truly satisfied, real, past client.
Perhaps in the future I will post here with my suggestions for college consultants who have impressed me with both their methods and their results.
