Why Harvard?

Question

1. Why did you decide to go there (except for the fact that it actually ACCEPTED you LOL) I know this question is kind of broad, and there are probably many reasons you thought harvard was a perfect "fit" for you.

2. Is everyone an overachiever there? Is it extremely competitive? I would think so b/c many ppl who get in were amazingly intelligent and ambitious in high school. And that ambition doesnt stop once you get to college (hopefully)

3. What is something that Harvard has (besides the best library in the world) that Yale does not have? In other words, what distinguishes Harvard from all the other colleges in America?

Answer
I'm going to keep my answers short and straight to the point; do let me know if you need me to elaborate on anything.

1. networking (crazy connections), reputation (can't go wrong with this on the diploma and there must be something to the rave), being in Boston (cool city I've never lived in). These are the main ones. Had little to do with what it had to offer academically or anything like that.

2. Not everyone. Plenty of slackers actually. Competition depends on your field. Premed tends to be competitive, but not, say, psychology.

3. Not sure what's so different about Harvard. But for sure the reputation is second to none. Location is excellent. And I'd just say if you take all the factors you read/hear about, and you want one place in the world where change is born, it's Harvard. People at Harvard have the know-how, the power, the connections, and the drive to make it happen. No other school has all of that IMO.

Let me know what you think. Enjoy the long weekend!
