Dear Jason,
I am so tired of writing college application essays. I'm applying to so many schools, its insane. But hopefully I will get into one of them right?
In any case I was wondering how you would answer these questions on the COLLEGE XYZ application since you applied there last year.
Describe the unique characteristics that of COLLEGE XYZ that interest you.
Why do these interest make you a good match for COLLEGE XYZ?
Name a COLLEGE XYZ professor with which you would like to study with.
--
I was wondering how you found your professor because I haven't found a master list of all the professors. Do they really expect us to know this question off the top of our head?!
Thanks a ton. By the way do you think I have any chance of getting in?
I am a legacy, but my stats are weak. Should I even try, or should I just stop trying to finish my online application (hurriedly I might add since I'm pushing the deadline :)).
Thanks and good luck with everything at Harvard.
Sincerely,
Bewildered

Dear Bewildered,
You can find info on professors and different aspects of the school online and then target your essays in that direction. I met professors there when I did a summer program at COLLEGE XYZ. As always, admissions are random and not even an admissions officer could give you a fair prediction, so I suggest that you submit your best application and hope for the best!
Sincerely,
Jason
